Vijayendra Prasad who penned story for the film revealed various secrets of Baahubali.

On Baahubali Genesis:

Rajamouli gave me the following parameters — it should be a costume drama; have a strong female protagonists; grey characters. Though it was not a conscious decision, there are parallels to characters from our mythologies here. There is a lot of Beeshma in Kattappa, there are shades of Kaikeyi, Gandhari and Kunti in Ramya Krishna's Sivagami character; Nasser's Bijjaladeva has some characteristics of Saguni; Duryodhana and Ravana's characteristics can be seen in Rana's Pallvalathevan; and Prabhas's character has shades of Rama and Arjuna.

Criticism on Baahubali winning National Award:

I'm not bothered about these criticisms. With all due respect to the makers, most of the award-winning movies are those that are hardly watched by a majority of the public in the theatres. Popular movies should be given awards because movies are something that people should come and watch in cinema halls. What's the purpose of giving an award to a film that nobody has bothered to see in theatres?
