Cisco allows sick leave

Cisco allows sick leave for taking care of an unwell family member:

BENGALURU: Employees of Cisco India who need to care for their dependents during times of illness can avail themselves of sick leave, under a revamped policy rolled out earlier this month.

The American technology company has provision for 12 days of sick leave a year for its employees. "Our data over the past few years has shown that the sick leave is not used fully."

"Often we were finding that employees would end up taking paid or casual leave if they were required to care for ill family members, with their own sick leave quotas lapsing at the end of the cycle," Seema Nair, director of HR, Cisco India and SAARC, told ET. Under the changed policy, she said, employees can now claim days from their sick leave quota if they require time off to care for an elder, a spouse, a partner or a child.
