Remake Fever Of Two Star Families: Chiru & Mohan

There were times when our hit and average films were remade in Bollywood, making hundreds of crores business. Apart from business, our South Indian films had that pride of coming up with unique and fresh concepts. Lately, heroes from two Telugu film families are highly depending on remakes.

If we look at Mega and Manchu families movie lineup and past few films, all we can see is a big list of remake films. Manchu Vishnu's Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam, Erra Bus, Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda, Denikaina Ready are Tamil originals while Manchu Manoj's Shourya, Current Theega, Potugadu too were brought down from other languages.

Chiranjeevi choose Kaththi remake for his prestigious 150th film whil Ram Charan already started shooting for Thani Oruvan remake.

Remake is recreation of a tested subject filling the flaws in a most convenient way that suits the local audience. So it makes no sense when star heroes like Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi pickup remake stories, otherwise if it is something like Drishyam. Manchu Heroes have tried-failed with direct films and now they seem to be playing safe with remakes.

This long list of remakes is hinting scarcity of stories in Tollywood or our heroes are not daring to pick up unique subjects to come out of their stardom. It looks like small and medium budget directors are coming up with fresh stories and they are doing decent business at Box office, few heroes are turning towards remakes after consecutive flops, while some stars like Mahesh Babu are sticking to originality always.
